Meet the Teachers
The Advisors of Ponderosa FFA students work hard to ensure the success of students in the Classroom, SAE projects, and FFA. The classes offered at Ponderosa FFA range from Ag Science and Ag Biology to Ag Mechanics and Floral Design. These advisors are dedicated to the Ponderosa FFA program as well as each and every individual student.
Mrs. Andrea Sawyer
Mrs. Sawyer has been teaching high school agriculture for 8 years. She is a graduate from University of California, Davis, majoring in political science and livestock production. She also earned her Masters Degree in Education from UC Davis. Mrs. Sawyer teaches the Ag Science 1, Ag Biology, and Animal Science courses, and is our FFA officer team advisor. When asked what her favorite part of teaching agriculture is, she responded that she "loves to be able to help students connect with agriculture and realize their potential as leaders in and out of the FFA organization."

Britta Fletcher
Britta Fletcher grew up on a small farm in Gilroy, and was an active 4-H and FFA member. She attended Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo where she earned a master's degree in Agriculture Science. Mrs. Fletcher was a full-time agriculture teacher and FFA advisor for two years at Le Grand Union High School and twelve years at Ponderosa High School. She “bleeds blue and gold” and believes in all that the agriculture program and the FFA offers students. Britta has been married to Daren for twelve years. When not at school, she enjoys traveling, reading, and being a mom to her kids, Jack and Paige. Her favorite thing about teaching agriculture is watching her students learn, grow, and become inspired. .

Julie Gilroy
Julie Gilroy has been the Animal Health ROP Instructor since 2007. She worked as a Veterinary Registered Technician for 30 years in both large and small animal practices and brings her experiences to the classroom. She enjoys sharing and teaching students interested in careers that involves animals. Students that have completed the course have gone on to Veterinary Schools or have become Registered Veterinary Technicians. Recently graduates of the program have earned a state certificate as a Certified Veterinary Assistant while still attending high school.
